onboarding

This is when we get to know each other and discuss the specifics of your project. What is your budget? When are you hoping to start and finish this work? How do you want your space to look and function? We’ll set up a call to chat and follow up with a short in-home visit. At that point we will decide which service options best fit your needs, and Studio Colomba will send a proposal for the design work needed to complete your project.

Conceptualization

A successful project hinges on good communication from the very beginning. Whether we are working on a knock-down renovation or an overhaul of your furnishings, we will first collaborate extensively to ensure that there is a clear and concise vision for your space. That concept will serve as a blueprint for the decisions made throughout the project, so that the end result feels exactly how you imagined it would. Inspiration images, favorite objects and art, personal style and lifestyle all inform the design direction, and we will work together to define your goals for your space before any space plans or selections begin.

design

This portion of the process is very specific to each individual project. If we are renovating a kitchen, bathroom, or whole home, there will be extensive plans, cabinet elevations, a lighting layout, and hard finish selections. If we are selecting furnishings you will see a furniture space plan as well as textile, accessory, and décor selections. Design meetings will include review of plans, elevations, material and furnishing selections, and mood boards. Depending on the scope of each project the number of design meetings will vary, but we will finalize all details before moving on to construction or placing orders, as appropriate.

Execution

When all design details are agreed upon, we will package up your project in a cohesive set of plans and documents that contain all necessary information to move forward. If engaging the services of contractors and craftsmen our detailed plans, elevations, and specifications will allow for thorough bids that give you an accurate project budget. Studio Colomba will order all furnishings, lighting, and accessories to coordinate with installation at the completion of your project.

Management & installation

Throughout project completion Studio Colomba provides hands-on management, as needed. We will partner with contractors and vendors to guide the beautiful execution of your design plan. There can be hiccups along the way and we are there to interface with trades people, installers, furniture makers, and artisans whenever the need arises. Careful communication and strategic check-ins throughout the build and furnishing process ensures that installation day, when it comes, is smooth, fun, and stunning.
